Sound Card Install

Okay...

The problem
-Run Quake3
-Run Teamspeak 2
one Sound stream at time...

I tried to do that "how-to" to fix it but stuffed my sound altogether.. (reinstalled OS).

My Solution
-Install Second Sound Card (my original is Onboard).

However, i need to confirm this.
Can i have both sound devices working at the same time?
ie, Run everything through my default device (the intg) and run TS through the PCI card.
If i can, how would i go about installing it. Will Linux automatically config it? HELP.

I'm not quite sure to understand.... do you mean you can't play 2 sound at the same time? It's the usual behavior if your card doesn't have multiple channel (most onboard and cheap PCI cards?), however, you could "emulate" this using a threaded sound daemon (I use artsd but it's not the only one that support threading).

If you want to use 2 sound cards, you might need to configure your ALSA configuration file by hand (not that hard) I don't know how your distro (SimplyMEPIS 3.3 ?) support for dual soundcard is. You will also need to tell applications which sound card to use, otherwise they will always use the default.
