sound card ??? i

i have an onboard sound card on my abit nf-7 and when recording it makes a lot of crackling and it only plays line in when i have the suround all of the way up

i was wandering if it is the card, or maybe the driver or .....

since it is an onboard card it might be the reason for bad quality

and are there any good cards that work good with linux and have good quality

i'd guess it's probably the driver... are you using alsa or oss? the nvaudio driver is pretty nasty, i'd strongly suggest trying the alsa snd_intel8x0, works great with the nforce audio chipsets.
