Sound Card Disabled
 
I run Redhat 9 and every sound card i try it says it is desabled. When i test it, it says redhat 9 does not have the drivers for this card ( or somthing a long them lines) but it understands what the name of the cards. i have tryed 5 sound cards now. Plz help!

hi antiwindows, welcome to lq. could you list the cards you've tried? could you list the output of /sbin/lspci -v w/each card if possible?

The cards are:-
Sound blaster live
C-media 2x on board and not
ES1989 Solo-1 Audiodrive

For All Cards The error massage is
"The ........ driver could not be loaded. This SoundCard may not be compatible with Red Hat Linux."
The ........ Is the name of the module on the Card

have a look at this

alterternatively i believe the ess card is supported by alsa as well, if i've read correctly it's supported by oss also w/the esssolo1 module. hope this helps.
