can someone tell me command for terminal of Audio Card Detection Utility in Linux?

are you trying to see what sound card u have? or see if your kernel detects your sound card? if you are trying to find out what card u have try #lspci
it should give a readout of all pci devices in your box

i have checked, the sound card is not listed in my Hardware browser.i think linux is unable to detect my sound card because it fails to stop audio mixture service with the message "No sound card detected" while stoping other services at shutdown.

i had redhat 9 and my sound card was working well on it.

yeah, i got no sound card detected when i did not have correctly configured in my kernel. try compiling a new kernel?

i am new to linux. i just installed my linux SuSe 9.3 and everything works except for my sound card. actually it works but i have the problem of not able to control the sound volume using Kmix or alsa.

i dont know which program (kmix, alsa etc) controls the volume. i have the only option to mute the sound. if i want to change the volume then i have to change it in my speakers. i dont want that.

my mobo is asrock k7s41gx. it has a sis 7012 c-media pci card. i tried to upgrade the driver, but i was not able to find one for suse9.3. could anyone tell me how to tweak the configuration so that my sound volume control is gained... i am thinking of buying a better compatible sound card if this doesnt work or i dont find a solution ...

please can anyone help me with this ?

have u tried running " #alsamixer" ?

lots of programs can control the volume as they are all just gui frontends for the same basic commands.

kmix is probably best under KDE /opt/kde/bin/kmix or just kmix
alsamixer is a more basic version /usr/bin/alsamixer or just alsamixer
aumix is even simpler /usr/bin/aumix or just aumix

All do the same thing.

KDE does not give a default volume icon on the taskbar. but it will appear as soon as you run kmix.
