Question sound card Cmedia CMI8783 cmipci

Hello there,

good day everyone, i am new to red hat 8. Been having problems with installations however i have managed to get it working perfectly now so i though it to be. My sound card does not work, i've been reading the posts here & other websites but no luck.

I tried alsa drivers, i have successfully compile the files, after completion. modprobe command was to be used, however it fail to locate the modules.

modprobe snd-cmipci;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss

modprobe: Can't locate module snd-cmipci
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-pcm-oss
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-mixer-oss
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-seq-oss

I got no idea why this does not work, help is most appreciated.

thank you

Try just cmpci instead of cmipci. If that works add /sbin/modprobe cmpci to /etc/rc.d/rc.modules under sound support

You don't have a rc.modules directory or you don't have /sbin/modprobe cmpci in rc.modules?

I'm not all that familiar with RH's file structure. I thought most distro's would be the same.
In red hat, it may be called /etc/rc.d/rc.local.
