sound card and alsa rpm

PLEASE HELP ME TO WIN A COMPUTER ENGINEER AGAINTS M$

[root@localhost alsa-driver]# rpm -i alsa-driver-0.9.2-fr2.i386.rpm

[root@localhost alsa-driver]# rpm -e alsa-driver-0.9.2-fr2.i386.rpm
error: package alsa-driver-0.9.2-fr2.i386.rpm is not installed

i can't understand this
first i installed it succesfully then i wanted to remove it but couldn't

also=
i have all alsa rpms
alsa-driver
alsa-lib
alsaplayer
alsa-utils
alsa-xmms

which order should i follow in order to hear from my

VENDOR= VIA Technologies
MODEL= VT8833 AC97 Audio Controller
MODULE= VIA82cxxx_audio
(this information is detected by REDHAT 9)

after installing rpms what will i do?

Hi,

The best tutorial i found for installing ALSA from rpms is at http://freshrpms.net/docs/alsa/. I've installed ALSA on RH8.0 following these instructions, they are pretty striaght-forward. Basically, in addition to installing the alsa-driver, you need to install the kernal-alsa-module rpms.
