Sound Blaster Extigy

Hi Guys,

Could anyone tell me how to get a Sound Blaster Exitgy to work on Redhat 9?

It seems to pick it up, but xmms just skips the song when I click play. I have downloaded the xmms rpm with mp3 support but to no avail

Anyhelp would really be appreciated.

It does sound more like an XMMS problem. To check, play something using another method other than XMMS. One option to possibly solve your mp3 problem: load XMMS and go to the IO plugins. Click on the MP3 pluging and click configure. Find the checkbox for 'detect files by content' and check it. Save your preferences and play your mp3 files.

redhat uses the usb audio driver, not the exaudio driver - its available from http://www.cs.umass.edu/~cochran/ - i dont know redhat much anymore so i dont know what the modifications are that are needed to make it run properly - but it works fine, im currently working on something like remotecenter for linux :P

RH9 & Extigy

Did you ever get an answer to this? I've switched to ALSA and can see the Extigy in the /proc/asound status. However, when I try to send some data to it, it simply blocks. If you got the Extigy to work, I'd really appreciate you sharing how you did it.

Thanks

That would be sweet. The packaged windoze one absolutely sucks.

go to control center in kde and select sound system, click on sound io, select oss. This is how I got mp3 files to play.
