Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX - Distorted Sound

Hey Guys,

I never got my Audigy to work before in linux. I am running RHEL 4 and it autodetected it, and actually got it close to working. The sound comes out but it is distorted. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem and could shed some light on it.

Thanks,

Dave

For anyone in the same boat I am just going to post a fix so far.

If you use XMMS go into the MPEG play back plug in. turn down the sampling rate to 22 and restart XMMS. Your sound should now come through clean.

I read that this can also be solved by forcing all sound through the card at 48khz. I am going to try this shortly. Right now I am happy it is just playing properly.

I have the same problem with that precise soundcard, but seems like a distro/kernel version specific thing. If you install the ubuntu 5.10 for instance, the sound is crystal! Try updating alsa or your kernel and post ;)

I will give that a shot. My kernel is pretty recent, it could be my alsa drivers. I will give that a shot.

Thanks
