Sony DRU-510A DVD+-RW Mounting

Ok.. First thanks for looking.
Second.. I searched the forums and nothing worked.
Third... I am running Redhat9
Fourth...It works fine as a cdrom
Fifth...I have the hdc=ide-scsi in the grub.conf
Sixth here is the fstab
"LABEL=/ / ext3 defaults 1 1"

"LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2"

"none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0"

"none /proc proc defaults 0 0"

"none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0"

"dev/hda3 swap swap defaults 0 0"

"/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom udf,iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0"

"/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner,kudzu 0 0"

If someone could help me (in all the steps I need.. still new to linux) I would appreciate it.

Once again.. this is hooked up to hdc and has scsi emulation

D.

I gather from your title your trying to mount something but I couldn't find a question?

What kind of CD are you trying to mount and all the steps to do what?

What I am trying to do is mount the dvd+-RW so that I could read my dvd data disks.
Then, once I figure out how to do that I need to be able to burn to dvd media.
So... first I need to figure out how to read dvd data disks.. then how to burn them.

Thanks for looking

Ok... got it to read dvd's (not sure if it is correctly set up though)
Here is what I did (taken from many places.. so I wll put them all here).
First.. since cdrom was working.. I checked the dev/cdrom and saw that it was scd0 (not sd0 like I first thought) so i typed ....
" ln -s /dev/scd0 /dev/dvd " then
" mkdir /mnt/dvd " then copied the info from /dev/cdrom of the fstab document and got...
" /dev/dvd /mnt/dvd udf,iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu,ro 0 0 "
Now, if I left off the ro (read only) then I got an error that the disk is write protected.. so I put it back on.

Next... I am not sure if the " udf " before iso9660 is necessary, or if I should use something else since it is a dvd and not a cdrom.
Does anyone know/have ideas?

Then I created a link for cd/dvd-rom device on the desktop for easy mounting and unmounting/ejecting and I seem to be able ane read data DVD's now.
So.... the next step is to figure out the burning area.

D.
