Someone installed in this machine?

Someone here succeeded installing linux in this machine?

Mobo Intel DQ35MPE SOM / VGA / SATA / GBLAN
CPU Intel Core 2 Quad 6600

I tried the netinst version of bith i386 and amd64īs debian etch and testing, no good.
Ubuntu seems to do a little better, but no graphics, no ethernet, just console.

I am willing to install any other distro, as long as it does work. But preferably debian (or ubuntu), as it is the one I know better.

thanks all!

I have a different mother board but same CPU and had no problems with my install. First of all lets just stick with the x86 versions to make it a bit simpler. You say you are trying the netinst version. Is there any reason for this. Lets try using the x86 Ubuntu 7.10 standard cd which can be found here. Since you are having trouble with the graphics select the safe mode( i believe it is the second option in the installer). What graphics card are you using?

(Things get a little more difficult, since I am helping my friend over skype. I have no physical access to the machine.)

So far, as I have read, the issue seems to be related to the mobo. Other people have successfully installed in other (asus) mobos.

Ubuntu current has indeed given me a console. That was the best the machine did, to the moment. Graphical card will be a nvidia when the guys from the store manage to deliver it. Meanwhile its an onboard intelīs.

Supposing I cen get to this console again, how do I trigger the install process, the one that iīd had with the gnome icon in the standard graphic mode?

thanks,
