Solo 5300 with Ubuntu 7.04 lost PCMCIA slots upon installation

New to Ubuntu and in need of help. After installing Feisty Fawn on my Solo 5300, P3 900Mhz, 384MB RAM, the PCMCIA slots don't work. Other issues include CD ROM going LOCO and no wireless connection. I'm all ears for your input. Thanks
