SMP problems with Redhat 9 on a Compaq Proliant 1500

Hello all,

I've successfully installed Redhat 9 on a Compaq Proliant 1500 (dual Pentium 166MHz machine). Everything works fine, including the smart-array. However, the installation has detected only 1 processor and installed the kernel-xx-i586.rpm. I've installed the kernel-smp-xx-i586.rpm. But when I try to boot the smp kernel, I get loads of scsi errors, floppy drive errors or the boot process simply freezes.

What do I have to do to get the smp kernel working on the Compaq Proliant 1500?

Can you detail the exact way that you got Redhat 9 to install???

I am having issues with the video on a proliant 5500 , do you know what video card was installed in your 1500? I first thought that 2 megabytes video memory was the problem but I supose your video card must be something like what I have
