SMC 1208 EZ Card PCI 10 under Redhat 7.3...

Hi all,

I recently downloaded + installed RedHat 7.3 but my two SMC 1208 EZ Card PCI 10 ethernet cards do not work. Weird thing is that when I installed RedHat 6.2, if I remember well, they worked... I made some search over the net and found some commands to execute that would help me but I'm too new to linux to really use them correctly. I only know that RedHat recognizes my cards since when I do "lspci" I see them at the bottom but IRQs are 255 and there is the word [disabled] after their descriptions... I tried to add "alias eth0 ne" to /etc/modules.conf but when I reboot I get something like "Bringing up interface eth0... failed since adapter not found".

Any help would be appreciated for a clueless newbie..

Good googly moogly. First off, are these PCI cards? if so, you needn't have to assign them IRQs, and regardless... IRQs don't go up to 255. I think they max out at 14. the 255 may be the i/o parameter.

If they are indeed PCI cards and run on the ne chipset, then the module got split back in the switch from the earlier 2.2.x kernels to later. Try:

modprobe ne2k-pci

Cheers,
