Unhappy SMART Errors on Raid components

I was getting IO errors on large/long read operations on my hardware raid array. As the controller didn't support SMART I had no idea as to the state of the disks, so I pulled it apart and hooked the disks up to the SATA ports on the motherboard.

I'm having issues mounting them, but that's another story, in the meantime I did get SMART working, and reporting. output attached for one disk:

The other disk also has 2 errors, I'll admit I didn't copy the output from that this morning.

Are these errors of concern? Could they be caused by the controller or cables? Or given the age (bought in 2015) and the runtime of the disk is at least 1410 days (~3.8 years) do I need to consider these disks are reaching end of life and plan on replacing them?

I have no immediate answer, but SMART results seem to be well documented on the smartmontools web site. You may want to start with the tutorials.

You are trying to mount a single disk that is part of hardware RAID?

What is the controller (lspci | grep -i raid) ? Some hardware RAID manufacturers have utilities that you can use to figure out if/when disk drive(s) need replacing.

The controller is a small PCIE Startech 2 port jobbie, Marvell chipset I reckon: https://www.startech.com/uk/Cards-Ad...-Card~PEXSAT32

I've pulled it out as part of the troubleshooting process, and on the thinking I'd get better throughput using the 6GBPS ports on the motherboard as they won't be limited to to the bandwidth a single PCIE lane, I'd probably not it back in again.

Note that the OP also has another thread currently active on this subject. Better to have just one methinks to avoid (more) confusion. The detail of the card for example needs to be in the other thread too.
Note also the comment on Linux support in the referenced link. I have no idea what kernels Debian uses.
