Smart Array 3200

Has anyone gotten a Compaq Smart Array 3200 running with Linux?

I'm the lucky (maybe) recipient of a couple of these controllers and would like to get them running under Suse 10.x. I've found an older copy of the web-based configuration tool but it doesn't seem to want to run. Any attempt to run the "cpqacuxe" interface program (apparently, this is what's going to be listening on port 2301) results in a complaint about a shared library not being loadable (libc.so.6?!).

Are these controllers a lost cause or is there a way to get the configuration utility to run?

TIA...

Goto www.google.com/linux and search for "libc.so.6". The first result is usually rpmfind.net. Look through the rpmfind.net page to see if there is a version that mentions your software/hardware and download/install it. If none match, browse some of the other entries on the page to find one that seems like it could be a close match.

You could also goto www.google.com/linux and search for "Compaq Smart Array 3200 running with Linux".

Hope this helps.

There is already a "libc.so.6" on the system. Depending on the version of Suse, it's either a symbolic link to libc-2.4.so or libc-2.5.so. I'm not sure I want to download a new one just now. That's pretty much the corest of core libraries and messing that up would make life, um, interesting. (That's sort of what I was getting at with the punctuation in the original post: "Whaddya mean you can't load libc?")

I've already done something similar to that and found a link to a cpqacuxe-v.v-blah.rpm. The first version of that that I found that was roughly the same vintage as the 3200 controller and was the one that spit out the error about not finding the libc.so.6 library. A later version squawked about not having installed the HP System Management Homepage rpm. I found the rpm for that but it errored out in an installation script and it didn't install. Looks like I'll have to look into unpacking it and installing the bits by hand.

Looks like this is another case of you get something for free and you have to sweat a bit to make it work. If you're lucky, that is.

Too much fun...
