Slow with Gigabyte GA-5SMM AMD K6 450mhz.

I used to have Pentium 3 (400mhz) + Biostar motherboad.
(Which has broken down).
I now am using AMD K6-2(450mhz) +Gigabyte GA-5SMM (which has come from Compaq
Presario 5304).
But this is much slower than the fast one.
Is there any reason(motherboad may be bad)?

How much ram is on the Compaq ?, Also check Compaqs/Hewlett packards web site for Linux drivers for that machine; There might be some sort of proprietary technology that since it is not open may need a Driver from them kinda Like what Linuxant is Doing. But i would say Check your ram need at least 128MBs and make sure you have an active swap partion of at least 600 mb but preferably 800, also make sure your not running any services you do not need turn off all of the stuff your not useing.
