Slow local file copying (Debian etc and ASRock 939Dual-SATA2)
Hey all
i have been using debian etch on my system for the last couple months and am quite happy...
but one thing that is annoying the crap out of me is whenever i'm doing big file copying between hard drives (say 500mb and up) it is soooooo slow and the system pretty much grinds to a halt and i have to wait for the file copying to finish.
is there any way to fix this? its like running windows with no proper IDE drivers... which is what i'm thinking the problem is... maybe the 939Dual-SATA2 isn't supported very well... i know my onboard network still doesn't work... sound is no problem though...
also (and this is kind of not as important...) when copying files between my systems i can only managed about 2.5mb/sec (according to KDE)... is this slow? it feels like it is...
any help would be great... thanks!
EDIT: also CD and DVD burning is SLOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW... like a burnt a cd at a max of about 4x this morning and a dvd at 1x.... not good.
