Slow IDE disk...
My IDE devices were running extremely slow. I especially noticed this when I burned a CD, and my CPU usage went to 100%. After googling the problem, I found that DMA needed to be enabled for each device. Unfortuneatley, I did not have DMA support enabled in my kernel, so I then compiled a new kernel. Now, I have DMA enabled, but after any access to the disk, my system locks up for about 40 seconds. Anyone know what this might be happening? I don't know if matters but I have the IDE disk mounted as NTFS.
Here is some info on my system...
