Hello,
I installed Fedora a few days ago, its my first time with Linux...I love it!!!!!
But I have a problem. Some free games came with the distro like Tux Racer and it runs slow. Anything else runs fine, as long as it doesnt involve any graphics. Even simple Opengl programs run almost like a slide show. Im guessing its because of my graphics. I went to www . nvidia . com/ object/ linux_display_ia32_1.0-4191.html
I ran the chooser and it told me to download the kernel "NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4191.tar.gz" and "NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4191.tar.gz". There are no binaries for Fedora it said. At the command prompt i typed make to use the kernel makefile but it came up with an error saying:
Quote:
You appear to be compiling the NVIDIA kernel module with
a compiler different from the one that was used to compile
the running kernel. This may be perfectly fine, but there
are cases where this can lead to unexpected behaviour and
system crashes.
If you know what you are doing and want to override this
check, you can do so by setting IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH.
In any other case, set the CC environment variable to the
name of the compiler that was used to compile the kernel.

Im not sure where to proceed from here. I tried running the GLX and it ran fine it replaced the libraries and all...But it didnt help. If I should follow the advice it gives me then how would I do it? Where can I find the IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH or the CC variable? Sorry for my linewbieness.
