Slackware CPU problem

I have a 350mhz cpu. When I try to overclock it to 400mhz (by changing the multiplier) everything works until Linux starts to boot, then it says something like 'Tried to kill init!' How do I get it to stop? =\

How about changing the clockspeed back to 350MHz.

I think you have a K6-2 350MHz (if it was an Intel you couldn't change the multiplyer). Those were very instable when you overclock it. So had better get yourself a better cooling, an actual 400MHz processor or run it at its supposed speed - those measurings don't come from nothing

Now that would be weird. The 450 runs at 4.5 x 100MHz and your current processor runs at that FSB, too. Most boards I've seen supported at least a multiplyer of 5.0. and the K6-2 550MHz used the 2.5 MP and changed it internally.

Some 450s run at 2.4V core voltage but I don't think that this would be a problem as well.

All in all I don't see why your motherboard that supports 400MHz k6-" shouldn't support 450MHz versions as well.
