slackware 12.0 & NIC
Has anyone attempted to use an add-on NIC under Slackware 12.0, and what were the results (good or bad)?
I have two systems using Slack 12 and NICs built on the system board that work just fine. I have two other systems that require an add-on (plug-in) NIC that do not recognize the NIC. I have tried 7 cards, and none work. In all cases the kernel is 2.6.21.5. Thanks.... |
Hi n4zm, Welcome to lq. What do you mean by add on nic? Are you trying to use a wireless card in a laptop, or just add another pci card to a desktop system? If you're just adding another pci nic in the box you should be able to modprobe the module for it if it doesn't get detected at boot. Here is some info on using multiple nics.
Good luck. ;-) |

Sorry for any confusion. I have been using Linux (Slackware exclusively) for several years, but I am new to mailing lists. So please forgive any improprieties on my part. Zeb |
What does lspci show when any of cards are plugged in. Are they found.
Cheers. |

As the other two posters stated, once you have verified the nic status, have a look at the link I posted above in reference to using multiple nics.
Good luck. ;-) |
