slackintosh or debian \n there is the dilema \n (on ps3)
hi, im soon going to install a distro on ps3, i tried once YDL, but didnt like it so i restored the ps3 (something like version 5.x), and now im trying to decide wich distro is best to install, the candidate for me are slackintosh, debian squezee , and "surprise" YDL new version 6.1.
Im mostly a slackware user since slackware 12.1, and i love it and the simplicity, but i found a better tutorial on debian than on slackintosh, if any one has had any exprience installing slackinstosh on a ps3 it would be very much apreciated, before i take the plunge, (nothing wrong with debian im more used to slackware). I would try debian first, then slackintosh, if all fails YDL, (although i have no HD cable, is that even a requirement?), i will mostly use it as a desktop, thanks in advance and here are the links i found on both install methods (superficial googling offspring) debian http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=29730 http://ps3linux.radiolivre.org/english.html slackintosh http://playslack.sourceforge.net/wik...kintosh_On_PS3 |
Well, Slackintosh seems all but dead in the water. They are still at 12.1, and their -current changelog hasn't been updated since June 7th. Personally, I wouldn't go through the trouble of installing the thing if it is going to be outdated from the start.
Debian would be a good choice, and the package selection should be enough to keep you happy for awhile. What about Gentoo? |
well i didnt thougth of it, because, i used it once, and it became a nightmare to install anything so, it really left a bad taste, any way, maybe debian is worth a shot, ill get the ppc gentoo isos in case, thanks
