sk98lin problem on Shuttle SN95G5 + SuSE 9.1 x86_64

Hello,

I'm using the Shuttle SN95G5 + SuSE 9.1 x86_64. Everything is working fine other than the ethernet.

The ethernet is working but the kernel (2.6.5-7.111-default) gives the following message many times.

eth0: -- ERROR --
Class: internal Software error
Nr: 0x19e
Msg: Vpd: Cannot read VPD keys

I found the same problem but it was not the answer.
bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=136158

I updated the driver (6.23) to the newest (7.09), but the error continues to appear.

And the traffic statistics is always 0. So, the SNMP doesn't work. I'd like to improve this most.

# cat /proc/net/sk98lin/eth0

fix found for sn95g5 vpd errors with lan device

I found a fix for this problem; it's a dos-patch released by ASUS for their K8V board. Even though it's a different board, the SN95G5 uses the same Marvell Yukon Gigabit lan chip with the same problem. I found that patch worked on three of my systems.

The patch can be found at:

Good luck.
