SiS7012 PCI Audio Accelerator - Unable to play real player

I'm running the above onbroad sound card on Mandrake 10
I'm unable to play streaming real player files, I get the message that another application is using Audio, when it is not.

Audio works with totem and other app's.
The correct plugin's are installed, and real player. (least version)

Currently using the snd-intel8x0 driver.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be and of course a fix???.

I'm not sure if this will help but try. If you are using kde... make sure arts is still not using the sound card, when you use a program like kaboodle, arts will keep using the card for a little while (this can be changed in the control center) another thing to check is to see if esd is still running. to check what's running use te command ps -A also you may want to change some permissions in your /dev directory, so you as a regular user can use the sound card... log in as root then do chmod 666 /dev/dsp* /dev/mixer* /dev/snd/pcm*
--hope this helps

Thanks for trying to help with the problem. I think your idea may have worked, but when I followed your idea my machine after re-setting would not boot up at all, ahh. So I reinstalled mandrake 10 and the first task was to install the realplayer and plugin for mozilla. And guess what, it worked first time.

So sometimes it may be better to start from the beginning again,
