SiS 655FX SATA Raid - on Fedora
Hi,
I want to make 2 SATA disks run as hardware raid. (mirror, level 1). Specs.: Fedora Core 2. Motherboard: Asus P4S800D SiS655FX. 1 ATA-disk (used for OS) 2 SATA-disks (for RAID). The chipset for the raidcontroller is SiS655FX, but as far as I can see and understand there is not support for Linux (download.sis.com/). The bios find the harddrives and also the raid utility makes it possible to make the 2 disks runs as raid. But when Fedora boots up the RAID-drive is not there (I use fdisk -l). I guess that it must be because of lack of driver?? Or is there a thing I have overlooked ? Hope to get a few comments, Regards Jan |
Well hoped there would be a driver here:
http://www.sis.com/support/faq/linux.htm -> http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kern...ta10.patch.bz2 but it seems to be some docbook stuff and some code that I cannot use... |
im having pretty having the same kind of problem. same chipset only im trying to use a single drive and suse pro 9.1. need a driver disk for linux to make the installation install it, but i dunno how to do something like that with the libata file
