Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Single audio stream to multiple outputs?

My new laptop has 2 ways to output sound, one is an analog intel hdaudio, the other is the geforce 570m through the hdmi.

Most of the time I have my computer connected via hdmi to my tv/monitor. When connected I want audio to go to the tv/monitor. The rest of the time I want the audo to go to the hd-audio. Is there a way to automate this, or force all sound to go to both cards so I can simply mute the hd-audio when I don't want it to go there as well.
