Shutting off hard drive
For one reason or another I need to shut off my hard drive. I am booting up as a single user and I use Hdparm -Y /dev/hda to make my disk stop spinning. For some reason after 30 seconds my hard drive turns on again. Anyone know what the hell is going on?

um the processor needs something on the HD
so it has to spin to answer heck:confused: |
hdparm -k will keep your setting until you re-set the -Y option and activate the drive
