As I said earlier, this question is not specific to Linux, but really has to do with what people think that "a device" will do in this situation – where both types of networks are available and the SSID is the same.
I would expect a device will pick the SSID with the strongest signal but it depends on it's operating system roaming algorithm. In my old place of employment sometimes my laptop would stay on the access point (single band) on the other side building which can be annoying.
That's what I anticipate also: pick the radio signal with the greatest strength, and if the strength of two alternatives are comparable pick the faster one. But I was just wondering if anyone knew for sure.
