I have been using AMD for many years now. Low cost, very effective. I'm not big on paying extra money for Intel. I just recently built an AMD based pc for home:
Crucial 512MB DDR333 PC2700
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 1.83GHz 333FSB
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 60GB Ultra ATA/133 7200RPM
Chaintech A-FX20 GeForce FX 5200 AGP 8X 128MB DDR
Gigabyte GA-7VT600-L Via KT600
Liteon LTR-52327S 52x32x52
Liteon LTN-526 52X
All of the above for $472.50! And these prices have come down a few dollars. I got all of that from URL=http://www.zipzoomfly.com]ZipZoomFly[/URL]
It's been very fast and reliable for Linux and XP. I recommend AMD to anyone I build a pc for. Let's face it, if you want server performance, buy a server. If you want to play games and surf the web, buy an AMD chip.
