setup ethernet card

i just installed madrake 9 in compaq presario 1215us. and i do not know how to setup my ethernet card in it. i have Connexant Combo Modem/NIC ethernet card. where can i find its driver and how it install it

From what I can tell it uses the tulip module.

Try from the command line:
modprobe tulip

Then you can use Mandrake control center to configure the card.

modprobe tulip doesn't work. i think the reason for this one is that i don't have the tulip driver. so i downloaded this file tulip-0.9.14.tar.gz from http://www.scyld.com/network/index.html and tried compiling Makefile. but there is some error like /usr/src/linux/include/linux/modversions.h not found etc etc and it cannot compile it. i don;t have /usr/src/linux folder. so i created it. tried putting version.h and modversion.h folder in it. still doesn't work. now i don;t know what to do next.

can you help me here

You might want to install the development package if you have the space.
