I'm trying to setup my WRT54G with my Smart AX mt882 modem which I got with my TalkTalk package but can't login to the modem using the admin/admin login it's supposed to be set to by default (according to Google). Has anyone else known this to be set to anything else?
How are you logging in to each device? I don't use the 'Smart AX mt882 ' but you should be able to login to a admin page via a browser. What about the connectivity for the router and modem? You should setup the router to get the IP from the modem. Then you can either select static IP for your LAN or let the DHCP be serviced from one or the other devices not both.
I suggest that you use a wired connection to setup the system.
When I want to configure either device I connect to it directly via ethernet and login (or attempt to) through a browser. I'm following instructions I found here: http://forums.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/f...TID=5341&PN=68 unfortunately I don't know the login for the modem.
Do you have the cd/manal for the modem? Or do a search here on LQ or google for the default IP assignment. Try '192.168.1.1' or '192.168.0.1' as possible IP for the modem.
Read the WRT54G manual. A PDF version can be downloaded from the linksys website.
The default username is left blank and the password is admin. I assume this is true for the UK as well.
He seems to be having trouble logging onto the modem not the router.
To the OP;
If you setup the router to get the IP from the modem then you really should have that much trouble setting up your LAN. Just make sure to disable the DHCP server for the router.
I think the OP is having trouble accessing either device. However, the instructions in the link provided did not have the correct default username for the router. I might of assumed the OP was talking about the router but stated modem.
