setting up sdr radio

I am trying to use this device to set up sdr rado.
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:2838 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL2838 DVB-T
I am very new to linux. I was wondering if anyone could talk me through the steps of setting this up so it will work with a program like Quisk or Gqrx.
My O.S.is linux mint.
If anyone can help me. I'll be checking this post on and off for the next few days.

I am not sure a driver is necessary if you are not going to use the device in a conventional way, ie, as a wireless hookup to your network/internet.

However studying how a driver is made, may help in your quest to perform your experiments.

The Sdr software programs might possibly connect, but probably not. without some fiddling. There are quite of few of them.. and don't be afraid to try the M$ ones, or at least Wine with them.. to get some leads and results.

Look in /dev or any relevant changes, when you either insert the device, or turn it on/off.

As far as being new to Linux, of course you're able to get under the hood all you want.

Maybe explain a little more about what you want to do with the device and Sdr,, and maybe plant your question in a more appropriate or other forums, if you don't get enuff responses.

Either way, lettuce know..
