Question
ok, i just recently installed fedora core 2 on my dell c840 latitude laptop. on this laptop there is a dvd/cd-burner combo drive. right now, fedora lists this drive as a "cdrom". when i try to play a dvd in mplayer, it says that it can't find the dvdrom device (since it's looking for /dev/dvdrom).
what i've tried so far is changing the DVD Device line in mplayer setup from /dev/dvdrom to /dev/cdrom. doing this, i can actually play the dvd, but there is not sound (i get the error message "could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound").
i'm assuming that it would be better to actually have fedora reconize my drive as a dvdrom/cd-burner as opposed to changing the target of the DVD Device line in mplayer setup. any ideas of how to do this?
thanks in advance.
