setting up D-link DWL-650 w/red hat 9
Hey guys, I have searched and read as many threads as I could find about this, tried a number of things, hoping I didn't mess up my PC in trying this.
Admittedly, I have just started messing around with Linux, and am still struggling with where commands and GUI interface lines are crossed. I have kernel version 2.4.20-31.9, trying to get this damn wireless card working, but I can't get it to even mount. I have pretty much verified that the card is based on the reltek 8180 chipset, and have downloaded the driver from reltek's website. Here's where I am at a loss, even after reading the read me which is mostly greek to me, I really don't know what to do to install the driver. here is the output of lspci: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 440BX/ZX/DX - 82443BX/ZX/DX Host bridge (AGP di sabled) (rev 02) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Neomagic Corporation NM2160 [MagicGraph 128XD ] (rev 01) 00:03.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1131 (rev 01) 00:03.1 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1131 (rev 01) 00:07.0 Bridge: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ISA (rev 01) 00:07.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 IDE (rev 01) 00:07.2 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 USB (rev 01) 00:07.3 Bridge: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ACPI (rev 01) 00:0d.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905 100BaseTX [Boomerang] 05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.: Unknown device 818 0 (rev 20) I really would greatly appreciate anyone's assistance in getting this card working! |
