Question setting up an 02 3g modem with a asus eeepc running easy-peasy (ubuntu)

I have been given an 02 3g modem which I have tried to set up with easy-peasy using network configuration. I have also tried kppp but again without success.
The laptop sees the storage device part of the modem as it trys to load the windows 02 connection program. It does not seem to recognise the modem.

Any ideas?

You need to "switch" your dongle away from being a "CD-ROM" to being a modem.
To do this you need usb_modeswitch
Get it here:
where you will also find an explanation of what is going on and instructions on how to set it all up.
