hi,
I have just install a second hard drive our linux machine and i want to set permission to our group,so that they can write and read.
Is any one know how to do it?
thanks,
petero.
There are two or three related thoughts that spring to mind. The one I think you want is to edit your fstab (which you will want to do to automate the mount point anyway). You can use the umask= option to change the way the partition is mounted. Information on this is available in the mount man page. (as well as uid= and gid= )
The second thing that comes to mind are the privileges of the directories themselves. These can be set to allow or restrict access to different groups.
Third, you can try changing the privileges of the mount folder itself, though I think the umask= does this instead.
If you have any trouble, post back with some more details.
