Hi all. I apologize if this is a double post, but I have searched the forums with a fine tooth comb and I cannot seem to find a post that addresses this exact issue.
I'm running Mandrake 10.0 (10.1 was too buggy). I've just recently grown attached to the idea of running the X-Server only when needed. The console has become a good friend of mine. My problem is this: no matter how I use setterm the monitor will not shut down after the alotted amount of time.
Code:
setterm -blank 10 -powersave powerdown -powerdown 15 -store
The monitor blanks just fine, but after that... it just stays blank until it senses activity, never powering down.
I have acpi enabled and I'm wondering if there is a config file I have to edit somewhere in order to get this to work. Maybe there is a module I need to install?
Just to clarify, I'm only interested in knowing how to get powersaving to work from a virtual console. My X environment already uses xscreensaver for monitor power-management flawlessly. Thanx everyone.
