server hangup

when rebooting my server as it goes through the startup it gets to:

scsi2: scanning channel 1 for devices.

and will not go beyond this point. restarting doesn't help....would appreciate any help anyone could offer.

What distro / version of linux are you running?

Post your hardware setup.

Did you change any hardware or configuration files lately.

Well, we besides the obvious it will be difficult to help.

A swag would say that either one of the SCSI controllers went bad or one of the drives on that controller is loading down the bus.

Now assuming that its a server it probably doesn't have any firewire or USB drives. But it appears that you have more then one SCSI controller. I can't say for sure but scsi2 would mean you have three controllers.

I would also assume on a server that the first controller would be the OS and the others would be users apps and or data and or maybe some kind of backup.
