You have the Apache web server in Slackware. These may help:
Code:
/usr/doc/apache-1.3.33/README
/usr/doc/apache-1.3.33/README.configure
/usr/doc/apache-1.3.33/ABOUT_APACHE
/usr/doc/apache-1.3.33/README.EAPI
/usr/doc/apache-1.3.33/INSTALL
as well as searching Google for tutorials.

You could also install a ftp server, such as proftp. Here's a little tut:
ftp://sandman777.homelinux.com/Tutor...roftpd-nat.txt

And look here in your Slackware system:
/usr/doc/Linux-HOWTOs/

Slackware-10.1 will autodetect any hardware for which it has a module (driver)
in the kernel you select. There is The Revised Slackware Book Project which you
should read before you start to install Slackware. And you should also check to
see what hardware in your computer may be detected by the kernel (2.4.29) in
Slackware-10.1. You can check your hardware here in our Linux HCL, though all
of it might not be there. And this Kernel Build HOW-TO has some information to
help you determine your hardware in the Preparation section. It would be easier
to get a Linux LiveCD such as Knoppix, boot your computer with it, then check to
see how well your hardware is detected. You can use the information from that
LiveCD to determine your hardware. I would also read
some of these resources if I were you:
They will help you get a good foundation. I am having to _start over_ with *nix
now, because I don't have a good foundation, and find that it is getting harder
and harder to progress without one.

Hope that helps. You should also search our Slackware Installation forum, and
if you need some help, post information back here. And one more resource:
How To Ask Questions The Smart Way by Eric Steven Raymond & Rick Moen will
not only teach you how to make a good post so you can be helped better, but
it will also teach you how to search for information, so that you don't have to
depend upon other people so much.

There are many servers available in a Linux distribution...depends upon your
needs as to which server you should run.

What is your NIC card? What did Knoppix say, for example:
Code:
mingdao@james:~$ /sbin/lspci
00:12.0 Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6102 [Rhine-II] (rev 78)
If you can post that, we can tell you which module to use, and if it will be detected
when you install Slackware-10.1

How do you connect to the internet? What do you use? That will help us to know
how to help you there. Did you configure the internet with Knoppix? And which
version of Knoppix did you use? Knoppix 3.8 and 3.9 both use a 2.6.x kernel, iirc.

Depends upon the USB drive. I have 2 USB flash drives, 2 USB gas drives, and
a USB cable for my Sony digital camera. I have no problem mounting any of
them. So that will depend upon your hardware, and how you setup Slackware.
I mount all those drives rw (read/write) as a normal user. Post what they are,
and also look them up in our Linux HCL.

If I understand you correctly, you have a cable modem to connect to your ISP, then you
feed you computer's NIC from a LinkSys wireless router? I use a LinkSys WRT54G, and it
works great with Slackware. I am building madwifi and wpa_supplicant for my lappy as I
type. You need to know the chipset of your wireless NIC to determine whether you will
use madwifi or ndiswrapper. Issue "lspci -v" (list PCI devices) as root from Knoppix, and see
what it says for your NIC.
