Serious bluetooth issue - system freeze/kernel panic
I'm posting this here first, hope it's the right section.
Mint 13 32-bit on an IBM T60. I have 3 different bluetooth dongles, I can't get this system to work with any of them. It detects the hardware and shows the devices in the bluetooth manager, that much seems to work OK, but when I try to pair up with anything, after a second or two, the system freezes hard, no response at all to any input, and then sometimes after a few seconds it crashes to console mode with a text dump of several pages, then locks again. The only thing to do is a hard reset. Just wondering if anybody has experienced this or has any ideas.

You have bluezd and obexftp configured and running?

I can only mention that some teeth can be bluer than others :-P. There was a windows nightmare here doing this with one or all of bluetooth stacks, drivers, dongles, and dlls being incompatible. The main issue was driver & bluetooth stack.

Find something that's known to work with this and that, and use that exact combination.

The stupid things all work in Windows, of course. It's frustrating.

Everything is installed as it should be, not sure what the problem is. Maybe an upgrade will fix it.

I'm going to mark this solved. Removing Mate-bluetooth seems to have fixed the issue (using blueman instead). I don't know if this remains an issue in Mint 14.
