I need to install redhatlinux on my computer but it cant find the harddrive. when i called up the people who i bought it from(PCClub) they said they new nothing about linux and they only specialized in Windoze. anyways they said that linux may not be able to install on a Serial ATA harddrive. my question is-is this true? NOTE:when i first started it up it couldnt find the hard drive.I dont want to install M$ windoze. HELP!

My rig is...P4 3.0 ghzHT/ serial ata HDD/ MSI 865PE neo2 mobo/

Depends on your distribution and hardware. The Silicon Image 3112 Serial ATA controller is only supported in Linux 2.4.21 and later.

One solution, if it won't install out of the box, is to create a custom boot disk with kernel 2.4.22 with Silicon Image chipset support built in, and to use that disk to start the installer.
