Serial Port, what is it designated?

I have a Toshiba Tecra A3 laptop, does anyone know what device the serial port should be listed as? or if I have to do anything special to get it working. I'm attempting to use minicom to access a Cisco series router, and minicom doesn't says it can't access /dev/modem .

Most often, the serial port is /dev/ttys0.

if /dev/modem is not present, you probably have to ln -s /dev/ttyS? /dev/modem with ? being the index of the com port the modem is plugged into (0 for COM1, etc.)
ls -l /dev/ttyS? shows the access rights to the com port. maybe you have chmod it.
