Serial Modem with Incoming Call/Hold feature

Has anyone found an external serial modem such as US Robotics USR5686E ($100) that signals incoming calls w/hold feature on SuSe 10.2? I spoke to the USR-people yesterday, they say they don't know if it would work. I don't need on-screen message display; a signal and hold-switch on the unit would do. If anyone has a similar setup, I'd appreciate Make/Model info. (I'm stuck with dial-up)

Cheers.
