Serial attached SCSI support?

Hello All,
Would anyone know if Linux has support for the new Serial Attached SCSI chips, e.g. LSISAS1064. ?
I know that that SAS is SATA compatible, so we're good to go right away, but wouldn't it be better if there was support for SAS directly?

Thanks in advance,
Kumar
