Yup. With a 2.6 kernel, SATA drives are operated through the libata driver, and will show up as /dev/sdX.
Hdparm doesn't work with scsi; try Dougls Gilberts sdparm from
http://www.torque.net/sg/sdparm.html, which also has pointers to his sg-utils, for more fun with scsi/sata stuff. Not everything in hdparm is supported in sdparm though.
