Search of a driver for 0711:5001 USB to VGA adapter from MCT

Hi,

As my laptop's VGA output is broken, I bought an USB to VGA adapter, sold by StarTech.com as part# USB2VGAE.

dmesg says:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0711:5001 Magic Control Technology Corp.

It is known too as UVT 100 from MCT. I hoped I could use sisusbvga driver (included in kernel tree) from Thomas Winischhofer but was not successful, should be different chipsets.

Samir S. did try to make a driver for this device, see this page but told me it is not working yet.

Does somebody know a way to get this device working on Slackware Linux 12.2 (kernel 2.6.27.7-smp for now) ?

I am trying to install a startech USB to DVI video adapter card. Did you ever find a solution for this. I am having a very difficult time finding information on how to do this.

I couldn't have it working on Linux, all I could do was use it through a Windows 7 RC system installed in a virtual machine ran by VirtualBox...

And now I do not need it any more, as on my new Lenovo Thinkpad T61 laptop hopefully VGA output works.

Beside that, it is very possible that USB to DVI video adapter card do not need the same driver as USB to VGA one.

Hope you'll get it working though.
