Seagate barracuda vs western digital black 1TB


Am trying to upgrade my HDD and wanted to make a choice between the two, anybody have any pointers on which is best.

Before the update i think perhaps is useful check if your Bios is capable to manage this space (on old pc perhaps you could have problems).

Thanks for the links I will go with the WD Black it seems to have performed better on the side by side tests.

BEWARE: The WD 1TB 1001FALS drives presently shipping from newegg cannot have their tler setting altered.
If you intend on using this in a RAID rig, FORGET IT!

I would like to know if I can downgrade the WD 1001FALS 5.00K firmware to a previous version so that the tler util will work.

Thanks for the heads up but I wont have RAID on it as system will be running from another drive, I just wanted to move all my media songs, vid, pics etc to their own separate drive.
