Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

SDLT firmware

Hey all,

I have a SDLT220 from some weird hardware vendor that is no longer supporting the drive.

I'd like to flash the drive w/ updated firmware (it currently has an early revision and is somewhat flakey). However, each vendor of firmware is restricted to the drive 'personality'.

So, does anyone know of a way to either force the firmware update, or better yet, change the personality to accept the alternate firmware? The guts are all the same inside -- I'm guessing it's a simple software modifcation, or perhaps some sort of controller chip update.... any ideas?

Thanks!
Jon
