SCSI Tape Problem

I have an HP DL380 server with a Smart Array 5i Plus SCSI Controller integrated on board. I am running Redhat Enterprise Linux 3. The controller finds the external Certance DDS-4 tape drive during boot, however no SCSI drives are found in Linux. I have 3 Logical Drives created with the Array controller. The array controller shows up in the Hardware browser. Here is a list of the current modules loaded:

Any ideas? The tape drive came with a very poor utility to try to find devices. It didn't give me any useful information at all. Thanks.

Doesn't sound like a tape drive problem....

Does the output of dmesg show any SCSI devices being recognized? It appears that all of the SCSI modules are being loaded.

I haven't played with RAID in a long time. I take you have 3 drives, The first one has 3 partitions? Not sure why the SCSI controller isn't showing up in the cat output either.

I also do not see anything on the tape drive. I thought you mentioned it was recognized by the OS. Never mind you did say during the SCSI boot scan. My fault.

I did find this:

Thanks for all the help. The second link worked perfectly! I found a little more info on a different website that mentioned that the Smart Array 5i card shows up as a block device not a SCSI device. I guess the support for other devices is disabled by default and requires a command to enable it. Thanks again, this problem was really anoying me!
