scsi tape drive error hp dlt vs 380

Hi!
I am getting this message in the log file
jun 6 17:32:40 st0 error with sense data:current st09:00 sense key illegal request
jun 6 17:32:40 Additional sense indicates medium removal prevented

This happens when I try to remove the tape drive from this command
mt -f /dev/st0 eject

It ways
input/output error

If, I do
tar -tvf /dev/st0 > 060606list
it runs properly

But I am unable to eject tape drive.The only option is to shutdown the server.

Can any please help me out

What happens when you try rewinding the tape or setting the drive offline?

I able to solve the problem.I visited the hp site for troubleshooting and support.There it mentioned just press the eject button of tape drive for few seconds than all lights will blink than leave the eject button.There after I am not getting any error while ejecting
